I don’t know who you are, Robot_Pirate_Monkey, but I love you. This thread on Reddit is great in general, but I really appreciate this sentiment because I am also really fucking tired of it being implied that romance ruins/ hinders storytelling in any way.
As someone who writes and loves romance, that sentiment can suck it.
Robot_Pirate_Monkey is me! Seeing this screenshot here made my day haha. I just needed to get it out there. The weird takes that imply a relationship can be either profound or romantic but not both were starting to get really fucking tiring.

I’ve been seeing the sentiment repeated throughout the different Reddit forums (especially now that Reylo is seeming more and more likely), and I’m really tired of it (and just tired of people thinking that romance is somehow lesser than other genre fiction). I saw one comment that said, “there’s too much romance in the ST” and basically that romance doesn’t belong in Star Wars. And I was like… I think George Lucas would have something to say about that.

I started this fic back in Feb. this year solely because my depressed ass couldn’t handle the possibility of Reylo NOT HAPPENING in Episode 9.
I don’t know where IX is going with the story, but if Reylo is the endgame, and if some basic trends in storytelling among Hollywood are being followed I imagined the beats to be something similar to this.
Honestly, I’d be amazed if anything I’ve written so far in my 107k word fic comes true, but I do intend to finish it before IX comes out, so feel free to read it if you haven’t already done so!
As a complete sucker and purveyor of post-TLJ canonverse fics, I cannot let another moment go by without reblogging this. I’ve already spent too long writing this post.

Kinda – @two-halves-of-reylo is a community focusing on canon compliant fanworks, meaning your piece must be set in canon. Your story can be rated E but please note that we won’t feature any story or art containing noncon or dubcon elements.
I’m at 22K words now, and I have PRECIOUS FEW DAYS to even meet my soft goal of 30K words. This has been really quite difficult, but a good exercise for me, nonetheless. I at least have learned what I’ve done wrong, LOL.
Like tonight!!!! I spent the bulk of my time tonight doing the one thing I promised myself I wasn’t going to do – editing and rewriting. But I HATED what I wrote the other day. It was ridiculous, and it’s much better now. And at least 5K words of Chapter Eighteen is one dialogue between Omar and Kylo Ren that took me by surprise and was quite nice to write. Omar’s “dad game” is strong in this one.
And now I’m beginning the second half of the chapter, which I’m hoping will be a lovely Reylo dialogue, but I find their alone moments to be VERY intimidating. They’re kind of the whole point, they HAVE to be done well, and in a very particular way or they won’t feel right. So… I anticipate a whole bunch of new edits and rewrites that will negatively impact my continuing word count.
Also, is it weird I’m going to miss this challenge when it’s done? You’ve been doing a great job, folks at @reylowrimo!!!
My gosh I can’t believe we’re almost done with this thing! December is going to be a lot of editing!
I’m now up to 43,033! Less than 7k words to go before this thing is done! I plan to take a short break from doing a lot of heavy writing to work on the stories I’ve been writing since this thing began (though I need to write my Rumbelle Secret Santa fic too!). I’ve done almost NO editing since November 1, so I’m sure these things are a complete mess! Here’s the current breakdown:
Walk Beneath the Stars: 27,591 (+2038) Songfic attempts: 7034 RFFA fic: 8408 (+107)
The actual fic total for Walk Beneath the Stars is currently at 57,891, which puts it longer than my Rumbelle fic Changing the Angle. And we’re nowhere near finished with this one. There’s a good chance that it will be longer than Fate Loves the Fearless (around 80k) and maybe even Away to Me (around 106k). I’m very happy with how it’s coming along but I feel like I need to go back and do some serious editing, maybe even add in some more scenes with friends rather than just Kylo, but I haven’t decided. Right now the work is VERY much focused on them and not so much on her life outside of him. I need to sort that one out but that’s why none of it has been published yet! Sometimes I think I need a beta, but I haven’t quite ever really gotten around to having one.
