just realized kylo ren probably had no fucking clue rey was on board the falcon during the battle of crait when it appeared and started picking off TIEs because hux told him she escaped in one of Snoke’s ships
I think about this every day. And that he didn’t realize it was her on the Falcon until he saw her through the bond
right?? probably didn’t even care who the hell was on the Falcon because our Shriek Prone Overreaction Boy just saw that ship and went “RAAAAGE”
YES and I’m not saying that’s some Fruedian/Oedipal shit but yes, that’s exactly what i’m sayin
Kylo Ren: [sees a jacket that looks vaguely like one his father once had]
Kylo Ren: i want every GUN we HAVE pointed at that STORE WINDOW
Hux: can you please go to therapy like a normal p–
Kylo Ren; [garbled screaming]
😂😂 yep that’s about how it went down, coupled with the rejection of being turned down by Rey. He’s reacting the only way he knows how
I have only one point of contention, though. She showed UP to the Supremacy in an escape pod from the Millennium Falcon. He’s a smart guy. He had to have had at least one suspicion she’d return to the ship she that brought her there. Not a guarantee, mind you. I am happy to completely concede that. But I’m in that slight majority who believes he absolutely knew.
He views his inability to murder his mother as a weakness. He views his conflict after the murder of his father as a weakness. He’s not a Sith, but he did do what he did in order to devote himself to the dark side of the Force, and one of those tenets is very clear – it is to cut all attachments. To have no emotional ties to the life he had before. It’s why he even gave up his name – the point was to become someone else. To be transformed. This was the pact that Snoke brainwashed him into accepting. And his inability to conquer these emotions is something he views as a failure. Because he was basically gaslit into believing they are failures. (which is funny because, to the Sith, emotions like these were to be used as tools, and that would be why one would turn to murder, to fuel their power)
I absolutely believe he knew what he was doing when he attacked Rey and he attacked his mother. I believe this 100000%. Because he’s angry at himself. And he’ll continue to fail at attacking the people he loves because it all goes back to what Lor San Tekka told him at the very beginning of this trilogy: he cannot deny the truth that is his family. And personally, that’s what I find so heartbreaking and compelling about the character.
This is also why I am 100000% convinced he is on the road to redemption, and 10000000% why I’m a die hard Reylo. He is only angry for one reason, and he will fight and he will fight and he will keep on fighting and he will keep on failing every single time because Ben Solo still exists and he cannot stop loving.
