Like, those small pages posting illegal stuff never tag their pages appropriately, and don’t care about having to remake a new blog if theirs gets nuked because they can just make a new burner account to post that stuff again.

Everyone: The only adult content that will likely be spreading around would be the illegal content, since you are strong-arming the legally-abiding and responsible adult content creators who take care to tag and label their content and not post anything that’s god damn illegal.

Everyone: That’s also assuming that there won’t be people that just continue posting adult content, either with censor bars or cuts to bypass the adult content check, or by just posting whatever anyway and not caring.

Everyone: None if this even addresses the racism problems that people did have, including the adult bloggers you are now getting rid of. You can’t just get rid of text posts or images of disgusting rheotoric unless there’s a nipple in the mix, yeah?

Everyone: Speaking of which, this new plan of yours still requires moderation, which is seemingly the main responsibility you are actively dodging with this adult content ban measure.

Everyone: So now, basically nothing will have changed except for all the responsible adult content creators being gone that made up a decent number of your most active and loyal users, some of the most active critics and filters of racist content users being banned, and the only people being left posting illegal content or blatantly breaking your rules to post legal adult content to spite you.
I have had 3 mineral posts flagged as adult content today. They contained a tourmaline, a muscovite, and a galena. On Friday I had 3 fossil posts flagged as adult content, including a fossil fish, a fossil tooth from a mastodon, and a Tyrannosaur vertebrae. I’ve submitted appeals for each. This has been getting worse over the past month, apparently most of geology content is now only for adults.
Apparently you can’t get your rocks off on Tumblr anymore.

From someone who’s survived MySpace, livejournal, deviantart, and fanfiction.nets’ content purges and bad policy updates, here’s some advice on how to get through tumblr’s recent bullshit:
– don’t knee jerk delete. I know it’s tempting to peace out immediately but hang on and do the other steps first. Out right ghosting and erasing everything is how fandoms die.
– archive everything on your blog you want to keep
– tell your followers how they can archive and keep your work too. A lot of fic and art were only saved from ff.net and lj because other people saved it first. If you’re cool with other people saving your work for them to personally keep, let them know this. You can absolutely discourage reposting but I really do highly recommend you allow people to personally save fic and art they like and are worried will disappear forever. Digital Dark Ages are a real thing.
– tell people where you’re jumping ship to. Give links. Keep that info up, even if you’ve left the site.
– go through who you follow and find out where else you can follow them. Save their work if they’ll allow it. It’s tedious as hell but if you want to keep up with people on here clicking on their page to check in is the best way to do it.
– support places like ao3. This is exactly why ao3 asks for donations a few times a year. They are a 100% anti-purging, judgement free, ad free non profit run by an elected board and protected by lawyers. Places like ao3 literally save fandom so please continue to support them and other similar archives. This is exactly why ao3 is so important.

SOME TIPS WHEN JOINING:
it’s a busy server, which can be a little overwhelming at first! in our rules channel there’s a helpful guide on how to mute channels/categories so that you only receive notifications you want (this is especially useful for the mobile app so that you won’t be totally bombarded with notifications!)
members are able to build a niche experience catered to their own personal interests! easily customize which channels you tune into & what content you receive/participate in so that you’re always enjoying your favorite parts of the fandom (example: if you love to read or write fic, one of the channels in the fanfiction section might be your favorite place/where you choose to spend your time). on the flip side, easily participate in all of the channels & bounce around/diversify your experience to your heart’s content! it’s completely up to you
if you are NEW TO DISCORD, you can reach out to your admins & mods for help (& anything else you may need) at any time! in the members list in the right sidebar of the server, you will see all admins & mods listed at the very top, so you always know who to contact & can easily see which admins/mods are online when you need them

While we’re all scrambling for Reylo groups after Tumblr’s new rules, just wanted to post a reminder about the Reylo Chat Party Discord! We’re a space for all Reylo fans, writers, artists, meta writers, cosplayers, theorists, etc. Message any of the mods (including me, @theknightsjedi, @lucidlucy, @darksideships and others whose tags I completely forget at the moment, will edit later) if you’d like an invite link!
It’s a Reylo Discord chat! We’ve been running for over a year now, and have a little under 400 members, though people are in and out a lot. It was started by @theauraki , and I’m one of the mods. We have channels for fic, fanworks, meta, etc. Mostly it’s just a safe chatting space for Reylos.
You can feel free to message any of the mods for a link to join, though you do need to be off anon to do that, since we need to be able to send the link privately, and we do look at your blog to make sure we aren’t inviting antis into a safe space. Hope this answers your question!

I’ll still be here, although I’ll probably try to post cross platform.
I don’t put out nsfw content, but I do enjoy it and, most importantly, my readers do.
This move is removing my readers from me and other struggling authors, even if nothing happens to me. This touches everyone. So I’ll do my best to try to make myself available to all of those I’ll lose.
As a T rated author, this hits really hard. It’s harder for us to gain readers, and I’ll lose, like, 90% of them. I don’t know what else to do. I sure hope people are vocal about where they’re going so I can stalk them shamelessly……..
This is just so heartbreaking. We’ve all worked SO HARD to build this community, and it’s something that’s really come to mean something to me – to us all.
And it’s getting flushed. For this. What a complete shame. Shame on you, @staff .
