ReyloWriMo Update 11/17/2018

It’s after midnight here and I’m 2K more words in tonight. My current word count is now just over 14,500 words. I go collapse now.

Chapter Seventeen of The Machine will be finished tomorrow!!! I will try to get it edited before I send it off to the beta reader, while I continue to write furiously on Chapter Eighteen. The plot is so thick I could cut it with a butter knife.

ReyloWriMo update – 11/8/2018

Catching up to where I need to be!!! Crested over 7200 words tonight!!!! Naturally this chapter isn’t ready for release yet either, LOL, because the plot bunnies keep leading me forward to nooks and crannies that hide between the major plot points I’d hoped to cover in a single chapter. I have a WHOLE section of dialogue I wrote between two characters that I was hoping to get into release two chapters ago, but we just aren’t there yet. It’s amazing how much I *think* I can fit into a single chapter until I start writing and find out…. NOPE!!! LOL!

But Chapter 17: The Temple (Part Two) of The Machine is coming along VERY nicely. This has been a fantastic chapter to write so far. And I’m also GREATLY looking forward to stuff I have planned for chapters 18 and 19… and ultimately on into 20.

And by 18,19, and 20, I really mean 18 through probably 33, let’s be real here, LOL.

Not as far as I should be, but did hit 5000 words tonight woooot!!! The chapter isn’t ready for release yet, though. It’s gonna be… another long one. We’re just reaching that point in the story where the chapters are long because I don’t want to break the pace. It’ll easily be as big as the last one.

ReyloWriMo update – 11/3

Made up a little lost time, and put a good dent in it tonight. Still have a lot to make up tomorrow, though, but I’m feeling much better. The flu is finally leaving me! 3K words into Chapter 17! But I need to make it to at least 4500 tomorrow. I completely believe this is an attainable goal. Feeling great!

One thing I’m doing here is NOT EDITING. I’m just writing. Writing writing writing. I’ll edit when I’m done. This challenge is about the word count, and getting it down on “paper.”

This has been the hardest part, because my process has always included a little editing as I go. It’s been hard to change that up on myself. But also a little refreshing. Freeing, really. I think I like it.

I’ll end up writing more than just Chapter 17 with this challenge, though, and I’ll have to post that work eventually, so I’ll end up editing the damn thing at some point, but I’ll see if I can’t get a little help from the ol’ beta reader.
